A set of envelopes which temporarily transform your phone into a simpler, calmer device, helping you to take a break away from your digital world.
Many people feel that they spend too much time on their phones and struggle to find a balance with technology.
We have designed a series of special paper envelopes which completely transform the functionality of your smartphone for the time it is sealed inside, allowing you to enjoy fewer distractions for a little while.
One envelope turns your phone into a very basic device which can only make and receive calls, while the other turns your phone into a photo and video camera with no screen, helping you to focus on what’s in front of you.
Printed buttons which subtly light up allow you to dial and take photographs, creating a calm but magical “Envelope User Interface”.
We were inspired by a recent trend where people purchase a second, simpler phone for holidays and weekends, as a way of limiting their access to technology. We wanted to create a more accessible version of this, which would enable people to try a day without a phone without committing to purchasing a new device.
Paper Phone is an experimental open source Android app which is available to try right now, all of the code is available on Github for people to play with and hopefully adapt and evolve!

Lyrics
I feel so unsure
As I take your hand
And lead you to the dance floor
As the music dies
Something in your eyes
Calls to mind a silver screen
And all its sad goodbyes
Im never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though its easy to pretend
I know youre not a fool
I shouldve known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that Ive been given
So Im never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
Time can never mend
The careless whispers of a good friend
To the heart and mind
Ignorance is kind
Theres no comfort in the truth
Pain is all youll find
Im never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though its easy to pretend
I know youre not a fool
I shouldve known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that Ive been given
So Im never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
Tonight the music seems so loud
I wish that we could lose this crowd
Maybe its better this way
Wed hurt each other with the things we want to say
We could have been so good together
We could have lived this dance forever
But now whos gonna dance with me
Please stay
Im never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though its easy to pretend
I know youre not a fool
I shouldve known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that Ive been given
So Im never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you
Now that youre gone
Now that youre gone
Now that youre gone
Was what I did so wrong
So wrong that you had to leave me alone?
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
see that girl, watch that scene
digging the Dancing Queen
Friday night and the lights are low
looking out for the place to go
where they play the right music, getting in the swing
you come to look for a king
Anybody could be that guy
night is young and the music’s high
with a bit of rock music, everything is fine
you’re in the mood for a dance
and when you get the chance
You are the Dancing Queen
young and sweet only seventeen
Dancing Queen feel the beat from the tambourine, oh yeah
you can dance, you can jive
having the time of your life
see that girl, watch that scene
digging the Dancing Queen
You’re a teaser, you turn ’em on
leave ’em burning and then you’re gone
looking out for another anyone will do
you’re in the mood for a dance
and when you get the chance
You are the Dancing Queen
young and sweet only seventeen
Dancing Queen feel the beat from the tambourine, oh yeah
you can dance, you can jive
having the time of your life
see that girl, watch that scene
digging the Dancing Queen
